Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Rara Thomas hopes to play football again and has entered the NCAA transfer portal, Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported on Monday night.

Thomas was dismissed from Georgia's football program in August, soon after his July arrest.

Thomas was arrested on July 26 on charges of second-degree cruelty to children and family violence battery. He was released on a $3,500 bond.

“He can no longer be part of the football team," Smart said of Thomas when he announced his official dismissal from the team. "He understands that. We wish him the best moving forward.”

Those legal issues from the summer arrest are still ongoing and will need to be resolved before he can suit up for another team.

Thomas' off-field issues appear to be a problem as his July arrest marked the second time he was arrested on family violence charges, though the first charges were ultimately dropped and he did not miss any playing time.

In Thomas' lone season with the Bulldogs, the former Mississippi State transfer caught 23 passes for 383 yards and one touchdown in 2023.

Thomas was on tap to be a key contributor to Georgia's offense this fall and maybe he will get a chance to redeem himself in more ways than one elsewhere.

Per On3, Thomas is currently the No. 11 overall player and No. 7 wide receiver in the transfer portal.
