Has any team been more negatively impacted by brutally missed calls this season than the Minnesota Vikings?

Sure, other teams have had missed calls, but did they directly result in points for the other team during a primetime game? That happened to the Vikings against the Los Angeles Rams in both week eight against the Los Angeles Rams and week nine against the Indianapolis Colts when quarterback Sam Darnold had his facemask grabbed both times. Those plays ended up directly resulting in nine points

Facemask penalties could be eligible for review

Those missed penalties, along with the missed one on Joe Burrow this past Monday night, are finally getting addressed. NFL executive Troy Vincent said that the competition committee will consider and discuss using the new replay assist to include some penalties, like facemasks.

Over the last few years, I have advocated for the addition of a sky judge. That would put an eighth official in the box and they would have the ability to radio down to the crew and make sure that egregious calls aren't missed.

Now, the sky judge wouldn't be for every single penalty or to make a ticky tack holding call, but to fix the egregious misses that happen way too often in the sport. Having that could be a huge victory for the league as a whole.

While using replay assist to fix penalties isn't a perfect solution, it would be an impactful help to ensuring we don't have bad misses that unfairly impact it's member clubs.
