Things haven't gone to plan for the Jaguars in 2024, with the team currently owning the number one overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and a league-worst 2-9 record. One of the few bright spots this season, though, has been the play of the team's fourth-round pick from 2023, Ventrel Miller.
Miller spent his entire rookie season on the IR, so he wasn't able to make his NFL regular-season debut until this year. He's appeared in all 11 of the team's games and been a starter in seven. He has recorded 73 total tackles, 49 solo, and three tackles for loss. If we took his current pace and stat line, he would be projected to finish with 113 total tackles, 76 solo, and five tackles for a loss this year.
Sadly, he is now being fined by the NFL. The league announced that Miller has been fined $5,440.19 for a hit on a defenseless player that the league deemed as "Unnecessary Roughness." On the bright side, though, the league handed out 19 fines from Week 11, and Millers was the second cheapest. But for a player on a day three rookie contract, fines hurt drastically more.
Jags could reportedly make the same disastrous mistake for the second time in five years
The Jaguars are apparently considering a making a very stupid mistake.
