The Washington Commanders picked up a blowout win in Week 13 over the Tennessee Titans.

The team is certainly entering its bye this week on a high note. But the NFL is hitting one veteran Commanders player with news he didn't want to hear.

The NFL announced that they have fined Ertz $16,771.00 for a blindside block that the league deemed to be "Unnecessary Roughness." The league handed out 17 fines from the Week 13 slate, and only five were more expensive than Ertz's.

Ertz wasn't the team's leading receiver on the day, but he was able to find the endzone to contribute to the team's scoring affair. The Commanders are currently second in the NFC East with an 8-5 record, trailing the 10-2 Philadelphia Eagles. While their chances of catching the Eagles seem like a long shot, they currently hold the seventh seed in the NFC playoff picture, two games ahead of multiple teams tied with a 6-6 record.

With the team on bye, there is plenty of time for the Commanders and Ertz to shake off this fine and prepare for the remainder of their schedule. And that's exactly what they will have to do. To have a shot at the divisional title, they will need to be perfect down the stretch, as well as get some help with the Eagles dropping games down the stretch. But if they do, the team's Week 16 matchup against each other could be a major factor in the NFC East's final standings.
