It hasn't even been three months since the last Georgia wide receiver was arrested for a violent act, but here we go again. Colbie Young, the 6'3", 215-pound red zone threat at wide receiver for Georgia was arrested early Tuesday morning on multiple misdemeanor counts of assault and battery.
This makes him the second wide receiver to allegedly commit violent acts since late July. Rara Thomas was arrested on two counts of battery and one count of cruelty to children this summer and was shortly after dismissed from the Georgia Bulldogs football team.
The full details, as of this writing, on the assault and battery charges are unclear, but the arresting officers logged them around 4:20am ET this morning as "assault on an unborn child" and "battery". The bond for battery was set at $2,500, and as of this morning he is reportedly still "currently incarcerated".

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart will now be faced with a tough choice to make with Colbie Young. Recent precedent with violent charges led to Rara Thomas getting dismissed from the program. However, Thomas' case was a bit different. He was a repeat offender having been arrested for "family violence" and "false imprisonment" almost immediately after joining the Georgia team over a year prior to his July charges.
Colbie Young, on the other hand, does not have a significant record or history of this kind of violence in his past. Smart may choose to retain him as this is Young's first major charge since joining the program. However, as more details begin to emerge Smart may have nearly no choice.
DawgNation reported around 9:45am ET that the victim is a 20-year-old woman who had gone to Young's apartment to discuss the status of their relationship. It was there that Young allegedly physically abused her.
Young's incarceration marks the seventh Georgia player to be arrested since this spring alone. Most of the other charges had to do with driving incidents. Thomas (the dismissed WR) was the only other violent charge.
In many recent cases players arrested missed just one game following their incidents, but the rising culture issues at Georgia clearly need to be addressed. We may see a harsher punishment handed out to Young given the nature of his charges. We'll be back with more as details continue to come forth.
