Notre Dame football received some big news recently when 2026 Matthews (N.C.) Weddington linebacker Thomas Davis Jr. opted for the Irish over an impressive list that included the likes of Ohio State, Tennessee, USC, Michigan, Miami, LSU, Ole Miss, Clemson, Penn State, and Auburn among others. It appears that Notre Dame is trending strongly with another dynamic 2026 linebacker, and is receiving a very interesting visit from him.
Elite 2026 Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School defender Simeon Caldwell is making the trip up to Yankee Stadium for Notre Dame’s battle against the Army Black Knights. This is a very interesting trip for Caldwell, who has already been to South Bend twice to visit campus. He has so much interest in the Irish that he has chosen to visit for a neutral site game.
Caldwell plays all over the field for the Bolles School, but Notre Dame views him as a rover in their system. The Irish have heavy interest in the Florida standout, and he has reciprocated that interest. They are in a good spot with Caldwell heading into this weekend.
Caldwell is considered a near consensus top-100 recruit by every major recruiting platform, the exception being Rivals who have him ranked as the No. 198 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class. ESPN, On3, and 247Sports are all very high on Caldwell, coming in at No. 29, No. 45, and No. 99 overall respectively.
It should be no surprise that a long list of impressive programs have been pursuing Caldwell already. Some of the defender’s top offers so far include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Miami, Michigan, Texas A&M, Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Penn State, Florida State, Colorado, Maryland, Louisville, Kentucky, UCF, Missouri, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Indiana and Kansas among others.
In nine games as a junior, Caldwell has been tremendous for the Bolles School. The 6-3, 190-pound defender has recorded 64 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and three sacks this season. He has also recorded two pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and has blocked two kicks on special teams. Caldwell is a versatile weapon that can do a lot for a defense.
