Pros:
- Alignment versatility
You aren't going to find many defensive linemen who can line up as a nose on one play, and from wider alignments such as a 7T on the very next snap. That makes Turner someone that opposing offenses need to keep account of every play, which can be a huge challenge. - Twitch/explosiveness
When a defensive lineman adds a substantial weight to play inside, it is understandable if they lose a little bit of twitch and explosiveness. That isn't the case for Turner, who is still dynamite off the line. Opposing offensive linemen can get put into conflict as a result. - Penetration upside
Turner is at his best when he is creating havoc in the backfield. His foot quickness and twitch allow him to constantly play on the other side of the line of scrimmage. He is a weapon from multiple alignments.
Cons:
- Hand placement
When timed well, Turner's hands pack a punch. When he misses, he misses very badly. That can hurt his consistency playing at the point of attack, and when asked to protect multiple gaps.
- Anchor
There is nice raw power to work with, but Turner is still getting his bearings inside. Turner plays on his heels too much, and can be very inconsistent anchoring against the run. Continuing to add solid weight and power to his profile should be an area of focus moving forward. - Pass rush plan
Right now, Turner wins mostly with pure athleticism. From a pass rush toolbox perspective, he could still be best served to add more pass rush moves to his repertoire. If he can, Turner has a chance to be a menace in obvious passing situations.
Player Evaluation:
In comparison to the rest of the 2025 NFL Draft class, there may not be a more versatile defensive lineman in the group than Turner. He is a player who can play both inside and out, adding a playmaking presence from multiple alignments. His combination of length, raw power, and movement skills that will make him a chess piece for a prospective team, with plus starter upside.
Still new to the inside on a full time basis, there are still technical aspects of Turner's game that need to round into form. If his anchor, and hand play take a step forward, he has a chance to become a difference maker up front. His overall athleticism presents massive upside.
Player Comparison:
John Franklin-Myers (Denver Broncos)
Turner is a scheme-diverse defensive lineman who has found a home inside, and has continued to be disruptive. His combination of power, twitch, and frame allows him to make plays all up and down the line of scrimmage.
A to Z Rankings:
