Sunday's game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks came down to the wire.
The game was all tied up at 20 at the end of the fourth quarter, forcing overtime. However, after a failed offensive drive, the Patriots defense wasn't able to stop the Seahawks offense, allowing them to kick the field goal and win it.
All last season, the conversation surrounding games was always the defense kept the team in games while the offense couldn't hold their own.
However, there was a change in tone after the Week 2 loss when Keion White was asked. And this time, he applauded the offense.
“First and foremost, Jacoby (Brissett) and the offense did what they needed to do for us to get the win today," White told reporters after the game. "I feel like as a defense, we need to play better, me included: defensive line, defensive backs, linebackers, everybody.
"So we need to go to the drawing board, watch the film. It’s a short week and that’s what [football] is all about: making corrections.”
Much of the offensive success throughout the first two games this season has been in the run game. However, Sunday saw a slight change.
Brissett was taking more opportunities to throw the ball, finding tight end Hunter Henry for 109 yards. But, besides a touchdown throw to rookie receiver Ja'Lynn Baker, the other receivers didn't get involved much.
It's nice to see White expressing confidence in the offense considering what happened last season.
But in all honesty, every single player, whether it's on offense, defense, or even special teams, needs to play better.
The Patriots have a short week, having to turn around and play against the New York Jets in a Thursday Night Football matchup. So let's see how they respond.
