NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported that New York Jets right tackle Morgan Moses will only miss a couple of weeks with the knee injury that he suffered during Thursday night's 24-3 victory over the New England Patriots.
Moses was injured in the third quarter while getting his legged rolled up during a sack on quarterback Aaron Rodgers. After having an MRI on Friday morning, it appears that Moses fortunately avoided severe damage. While getting hurt is never ideal, when it comes to knee injuries, things could have been a lot worse.
Also in Moses' favor is that having played on Thursday, the Jets have 10 days off before their next game. Moses likely won't play in their Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos, but perhaps a Week 5 return against the Minnesota Vikings isn't out of the question.
The Jets acquired Moses via trade from the Baltimore Ravens during the offseason in an effort to retool their offensive line. Although he's never made a Pro Bowl or been named an All-Pro, Moses has been one of the better right tackles in the league throughout his 11-year NFL career.
He had one of his best seasons just last year, earning a personal best 80.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, good for 10th among all offensive tackle. Waiting in the wings to replace Moses while he's out is rookie pick Olu Fashanu, who New York selected 11th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.
With Moses and starting left tackle Tyron Smith both on one-year deals, Fashanu is the future at offensive tackle for the Jets, regardless of which side he winds up on. These next couple of weeks while Moses is out will be a great opportunity for Fashanu to audition himself for 2025.
As for Moses, he'll look to finish the year out strong when he returns and have an opportunity to capture a Super Bowl ring that he has long been chasing.
Jets’ offense finally looks like the one fans have been promised for years
Kirk Herbstreit said it best in the third quarter of the game: “I don’t even want to talk, I just want to watch this”. Aaron Rodgers turned back the clock against the New England Patriots on Thursday Night, and thankfully not to the last time he started a game at MetLife Stadium. Rodgers looked like […]
