It's been tough for the Cincinnati Bengals and the entire football world lately. This past Monday, Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin, went into cardiac arrest after tackling Bengals' wide receiver Tee Higgins and needed CPR as a result.
Hamlin's ties to the Bengals go further than the tragic events of Week 17. His childhood friend and college teammate, Bengals' wide receiver Tyler Bond, requested Hamlin's jersey and it was sent to the team's facility. After what happened on Saturday, Hamlin and the Bengals will forever be bonded.
As the Bengals set to take on the Baltimore Ravens in their season finale on Sunday, they outlined the three on their 30-yard marker in support of Hamlin.
What happened to Hamlin was shocking and extremely sudden. However, in times where things like racism are at the forefront of the division in America with events that have taken place over the last several years, the support for Hamlin's recovery has been a breath of fresh air and has connected people from all walks of life to appreciate the gift of being alive.
As Bengals take the field on Sunday, Hamlin's spirit will be with them, and the bond between both parties will continue to prosper as the latter makes it back to full strength.
