Philadelphia Eagles Pittsburgh Steelers Week 8 NFL football T.J. Watt pectoral injury update status news

The Philadelphia Eagles (6-0) look to improve upon their flawless record as they host their in-state rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-5). Though these two teams have had contrasting seasons up to this point, the Eagles could be in for a rude awakening with the latest news coming out of Pittsburgh.

The Steelers’ defense has struggled through its first seven games. Their once-feared pass rush hasn’t been able to get home against opposing quarterbacks with the absence of world class pass rusher T.J. Watt.

Watt hasn’t seen action since Week 1 due to a pectoral injury he suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals. However, the NFL’s sack king from just a season ago isn’t ruling out a return for Sunday’s contest.

“There’s a lot of aspects that go into playing in a NFL football game, and I feel like I’m going in the right direction,” Watt told reporters following Friday’s practice. “I feel good. Today was a good day, this week was a good week for me, and I just want to continue going in the right direction.”

Even if Watt suits up this weekend he’s most likely going to be on a snap count. With the Steelers’ bye week coming in Week 9 there is no sense in the team pushing the four-time Pro Bowler to his limit.
