Let's just go ahead and say that last week against the Denver Broncos was the worst game Patrick Mahomes has played this season. His three interceptions put the team in a position to give up points, and they did.

The Kansas City Chiefs were up 27-0 in that game, but because of Mahomes interceptions, which led to points two different times, the Broncos were able to start a comeback and scored 21 straight points.

Mahomes doesn't have bad games often, so it was a bit of a shock. However, the Chiefs were still able to pull out a win by scoring 34 points. The weird part is the interceptions were some that he never throws.

“They were each unique," Mahomes said. "I was just trying to force it when it is not there. I think that is the biggest thing. The first one to [TE Travis] Kelce, he cannot pull up. That is the rule because the guy is underneath him. I was trying to pull him up into that window and he is doing his rule so I lead him into the linebacker. It is just little things like that.

"It is just being a little too loose with the football. I have to correct that because we are going to continue to play good teams and we are trying to make a run in the playoffs. I have to correct that and take all the good that I am doing and get rid of the negative stuff. That is what loses you games in the playoffs.”

We saw something similar in the 2021 AFC Championship game. Mahomes threw some passes that he just shouldn't have thrown. But, it is good that he got that out of the way before the playoffs.

Even with those three interceptions, Mahomes' worst game this season could still be a great game for a lot of other quarterbacks in the league.

Mahomes' interceptions were odd, for sure. They were throws we almost never see him make, let alone more than once, and definitely not three times. But if there is one thing we know about him, it's that we won't see those same mistakes again for a while.
