The Philadelphia Eagles have a ton of new players on their team coming into the 2022 season.
A.J Brown, Haason Reddick, James Bradberry, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, and of course all of the rookies, just to name a few of the big ones.
With that can come some early struggles. Of course, that isn't what always happens, but it certainly can. The Eagles need to make sure they aren't one of the teams that have a slow start because they have so many new faces all playing together.
The defensive back room is one of the rooms with the newest faces. They have two players who have recently been added to the team in James Bradberry and C.J. Gardner-Johnson
Fortunately for them, defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon feels good about where they stand.
"That typically takes some time, but in the NFL there isn't a lot of time, Gannon told reporters on Tuesday. "I feel good about where that room is at. When you add new pieces but they can think and can process and are smart, once they understand the why then they just need some time on task to playing with each other.
"But going through OTAs and camp, I like where that room is at. Then, the addition of Chauncey [Gardner-Johnson], they are getting him caught up to speed as well. I think it will be pretty seamless."
The Eagles shouldn't have any problem with that, at all. This position room is one filled with a lot of savvy veterans like James Bradberry, Darius Slay, and Avonte Maddox, all of who have more than four years of experience in the league, and Gardner-Johnson who is going into year four.
They may start slow in the first game and have maybe a slow first drive or first few snaps, but they couldn't of hand-picked a better situation to start the season in.
If there was any issue of a group not being together for a while, playing and winning big against the Lions can solve that quickly. I can build confidence and chemistry real quick.
The Eagles will be fine, as Gannon said. They are going to have one of the better, and more fun defensive back units to watch in the NFL.
