Not only are the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles (3-0) looking good on the field, but the team’s front office continues to stack wins off the field.
General manager Howie Roseman was lauded over the offseason for pushing all of the right buttons with numerous trades revolving around April’s draft.
While most Eagles fans are already logging the A.J. Brown trade as a victory, Roseman has put the team in a position to reload in next year’s draft.
Let me explain…
Nearly a month before the draft, the Eagles were able to push one of their three first-round picks into the 2023 NFL Draft.
They did so by trading two first-round picks and a sixth-round selection to the New Orleans Saints.
In the deal, the Eagles were awarded with the No. 18 overall pick in this past draft, which would be flipped to the Titans for Brown, along with selections in the third and seventh rounds. But the meat of the deal lies in next year’s draft.
Part of the Eagles’ haul also includes a 2023 first-rounder and 2024 second-rounder.
With the Saints on a downward trajectory, it isn’t far-fetched to believe Philadelphia could be picking in the Top-10 of the 2023 NFL Draft.
In fact, if the season were to end today the Eagles would be in possession of the No. 7 overall pick.
New Orleans (1-2) is gearing up for a game in London against the Minnesota Vikings where the team will likely be without starting QB Jameis Winston and WR Michael Thomas.
Not to mention, star RB Alvin Kamara is already dealing with an injury to his ribs.
It’s a trade that keeps on giving for Roseman and this Eagles team.
While the draft is still far away, Eagles fans should have no problem rooting against the Saints for the remainder of the year.
