Robert Tonyan is officially back in the fold with the Packers after he re-signed with the team a couple of weeks ago. Now, the goal is for him to get back on the field as quickly as possible.

Tonyan's 2021 season ended in mid-October when he tore his ACL against the Cardinals. He had surgery soon after and is currently on the path to a full recovery.

But how is said recovery going? There are many different factors that go into a post-ACL tear recovery/surgery and any little thing can speed up or slow down the recovery.

Fortunately for Packers fans, Brian Gutekunst provided an update on Tonyan's recovery Monday during the annual league meetings in Palm Beach.

"I don't necessarily have a real timetable on that but he's ahead of schedule," Gutekunst told reporters. "We won't close the door on anything early if it's possible. But at the same time, you guys know how important he's going to be to our offense. So, we'll be cautious as we go through that, too, to make sure he's available for the whole year."

A timeline is obviously the most ideal piece of information, but placing a timeline on an injury as severe as Tonyan's is not a smart idea and is unfair to the player. However, there should be plenty of satisfaction in hearing that Tonyan is ahead of schedule.

It's not illogical to think we'll see Tonyan in Week 1 as long as the Packers play it smart with Tonyan. And based off Gutekunst's comments, it sounds like they are doing just that.
