In case you missed it: The Packers traded All-Pro receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night.
It was a blockbuster trade that reunites Adams, arguably the NFL's best receiver, with his old college teammate in Derek Carr. Multiple reports have stated the Packers offered Adams more money than Las Vegas, but Adams' dream has been to play for the Raiders. And Carr residing in Vegas only sweetens the deal for Adams.
The Packers were able to shed Adams' $20 million salary and received a first- and second-round pick thanks to the move. The Packers now have 11 picks in the NFL Draft.
Below is the updated list of picks:
1. First round, No. 22 overall (LV)
2. First round, No. 28 overall
3. Second round, No. 53 overall (LV)
4. Second round, No. 59 overall
5. Third round, No. 92 overall
6. Fourth round, No. 132 overall
7. Fourth round, No. 140 overall (compensatory)
8. Fifth round, No. 171 overall
9. Seventh round, No. 228 overall (from HOU)
10. Seventh round, No. 249 overall
11. Seventh round, No. 258 overall (compensatory)
The Packers aren't going to replace Adams in the NFL Draft. He's essentially irreplaceable. However, they are in great shape to draft multiple impact players or even trade for another receiver in the coming days/weeks.
Green Bay is missing its star receiver at the end of the day, but they're in OK shape moving forward. If the 2022 picks hit, then it will help soothe the burn of losing Adams.
