The New England Patriots are making it clear to the public that they plan to bring back two key free agents.
And it's the same ones Eliot Wolf mentioned on Tuesday afternoon.
Offensive lineman Mike Onwenu and safety Kyle Dugger are at the top of the team's list to re-sign and that should make every fan very happy.
"“I love those guys,” Mayo told the local media at the NFL Combine “I love big Mike. I think he has the versatility to play guard or tackle. Look, one of those guys when he’s going, he’s dominant. With Dugger, I would say last year going into the season, there were some questions about can he communicate and all those things. He squashed all of that last year. He did a fantastic job in his new role without having Devin there.
“You definitely want those pieces to stay. Going back to what I talked about earlier, you develop through the draft, so if those guys say, obviously, they’ve been raised here and they can help push the culture forward.”
While Dugger has been a little more secretive about what's next for him, Onwenu has made his feelings clear.
He spoke with A to Z Sports in December about free agency in December, and opened up about why he wants to remain in New England.
“Its really where I built myself, turning into the person that I am," Onwenu told A to Z Sports. "They took the opportunity on me, drafting me in the sixth round. So I always like to, not necessarily prove doubters wrong, but I like to prove myself right. I always like to put my best foot forward and just prove that I’m supposed to be here and I am here."
So that should make it all the more likely for the Patriots to bring him back.
Let's see if Dugger and Onwenu are back in Patriots jersey's next season.
