The Georgia Bulldogs will be on the search for a new pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach after losing Bryan McClendon to the NFL.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hired McClendon as their wide receivers coach over the weekend.

"Another college defection: Buccaneers hired Georgia’s well-regarded wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator Bryan McClendon as their wide receivers coach, per source," Schefter wrote on X/Twitter.

McClendon, 40, will work under Bucs' freshly hired offensive coordinator Liam Coen, who left Kentucky for Tampa Bay earlier this month, and head coach Todd Bowles.

This will be McLendon's first job at the pro level.

He kicked off his his coaching career with the Bulldogs in 2007 where he worked in several positions, including running backs coach, wide receivers coach, pass game coordinator and interim head coach.

Before returning to Georgia for his second coaching stint in 2022, he had stops in between at South Carolina as the Gamecocks' offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, and at Oregon as the Ducks' pass game coordinator/receivers coach and interim head coach.

McLendon played a key role in the development of current 2024 NFL draft prospects Brock Bowers, Ladd McConkey, and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint.

He will be missed by many, but this opportunity is a huge stepping stone in his career and one that is hard to pass up.
