The Falcons have had a rough summer and spring when it comes to injury situations at the quarterback position, not to mention questions about their first-round pick, James Pearce. Those questions are raised even more following a brutal injury at training camp.
The Atlanta Falcons are having a brutal string of luck when it comes to recent first-round picks. As everyone knows, the quarterback situation is a mess with Tua Tagovailoa returning from lower back tightness, and top-10 pick Michael Penix having yet to participate in training camp.
While James Pearce is back practicing with the team, there is likely a hefty suspension coming his way based on NFL precedent. And now, amid all of that, the Falcons have lost another first-round pick, EDGE Jalon Walker.
Jalon Walker tears ACL during training camp
The news came amid reports that Walker was carted off the field after suffering a lower body injury. The severity of the injury was then confirmed when the Falcons ended practice after the cart came out. Shortly after, the news of the feared torn ACL broke, and now the Falcons will face the 2026 season without a player they hoped would take a huge leap.

When the Falcons hired Kevin Stefanski so quickly into the process, it was viewed as a good move for the team, but a questionable one for him. A two-time Coach of the Year with the Cleveland Browns, nonetheless, no one questions Stefanski’s ability to coach an offense and get the most out of his personnel.
The problem was, and now clearly is, the situation he’s stepped into. A more than questionable front office given their recent draft record, a quarterback situation that is nightmareish to put it best, and a defensive line that was down one of its two first-round picks from a year ago.
Now, that unit is down both for a considerable amount of time, most likely. Stefanski will have weapons to work with, but there are a lot of questions in Atlanta, and one of them could be from the head man himself.
