Tennessee Vols wide receiver Bru McCoy suffered one of the most disheartening injuries of the entire college football season last year.
However, if there's anyone with the determination and toughness to bounce back from it ASAP, it's the Vols' hard-nosed wideout.
McCoy suffered a dislocated ankle in the Vols' 41-20 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks back on September 30. He was going to the ground while being tackled by the Gamecocks' Marcellas Dial, and his ankle was trapped beneath him. The sickly result was his foot turning the wrong way in nauseating fashion, ending his season.
However, McCoy – who announced his return for one more season in Knoxville back on January 2 – attacked his rehab and recovery work like he has with his blocking assignments in Tennessee's run game: head on. He posted an update on his recovery on Tuesday with a video on his Instagram account, which shows him jogging on a treadmill.
McCoy also added a comment on the video of "1%" and that he's going to speed it up more this week.
Given just how vicious that injury appeared to be, it's pretty amazing to see him running at a comfortable pace without any kind of noticeable limp or limitation. There are likely several steps left before he can progress to football activity again, but being able to see the Vols star on his feet and engaging in some form of running is a great thing to see.
