Steelers' Kenny Pickett offers up awful excuse for loss at Browns

You know, our guy does this better than their guy, let's try and exploit it.
That is especially true when you face a division rival, since you see them twice a year, every year. But apparently, those tendencies went a little too far for Pittsburgh on Sunday, with Kenny Pickett and the offense unable to adjust:
"We Gotta Adjust Better"
"The plan was, they play a lot of man-to-man," Pickett told reporters after the game. "They didn't play a lot of man-to-man today. They threw a lot of zone looks at us. Different zone looks. We were expecting them to come in play, man. We gotta adjust better."
Now, I don't know, maybe this is just Pickett's P.C. way of saying his offensive coordinator doesn't know his finger from his toes, but to say that a team is playing zone coverage, and so the offense couldn't get going because of that, is one of the worst excuses I have ever heard.
To be clear, quarterbacks are trained to play against zone coverage since they time they pick up a football, And from that time, they are taught that every coverage has a weaknesses, and thus most if not every call can exploit the zone with said coverage.
So maybe Kenny is saying that Canada's offense is so inept, that the basic concepts that have been developed to beat cover 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 just aren't in the Steelers playbook.
I find that hard to believe. The truth is, the blame is placed squarely on his shoulders, but no one is free of criticism. The weapons struggled to separate, the line struggled to protect, and Canada made a series of just head-scratching calls in Sunday's loss.
But it would have been much better if Pickett just gave the cliche answer of: "We have to be better next time."
Instead, he just made an embarrassing offensive performance even more humiliating.
