Steelers locker room unloads on Browns player as he keeps providing bulletin board material despite a poor showing on Sunday

Jared Verse spent the week taking shots at Cam Heyward, the Pittsburgh Steelers defense, and the offensive line. After the final whistle, several Steelers players made sure the last word belonged to Pittsburgh.

Many Pittsburgh Steelers fans saw it live. Mason McCormick had heard enough from Jared Verse during the week, so he picked him up and dumped him on the ground. McCormick drew a flag for it and will probably get fined, but the moment set the tone for a postgame full of fireworks.

Verse and several Steelers players spoke about the exchange after the game, and neither side held back.

Jared Verse takes aim at Mason McCormick

Verse did not appreciate what McCormick did. Speaking about the Steelers lineman, he made his feelings clear, per Kimberly A. Martin.

“To do something like that, I can’t have respect for anything like that,” Verse said.

He stopped short of calling McCormick a dirty player by name, but he hinted at it. Verse added that he didn’t want to cause any more distractions or create more bulletin board material.

That is rich, considering he spent the entire week doing exactly that. Verse talked about Cam Heyward and the defense, and he took aim at the offense by saying he wasn’t worried about the offensive line.

Well, the Steelers were ready for him both on and off the field.

Steelers players fire back at Verse

Pittsburgh’s offense wasted no time responding once the game ended.

“Some walk, some talk,” Steelers running back Jaylen Warren said.

Rico Dowdle had a similar message, per Christopher Carter.

“That guy just talks. I told him all he does is talk. Zero sacks,” Dowdle said.

Steelers right guard Brock Hoffman was feeling himself, too.

“We weren’t worried about him at all,” Hoffman said.

But it was Jaquan Brisker who went completely scorched earth on Verse. Brisker spoke after the game, per Ashley Wenskoski.

“He should have kept his mouth shut. All that talk and then to come out with zero tackles, that’s bad. He’s got to look himself in the mirror and get better,” Brisker said.

This rivalry isn’t going anywhere

It is clear the Steelers listened to every word Verse said this week. They’ve been listening ever since the Browns beat Pittsburgh on Thursday night.

The responses came from every direction. McCormick dumped Verse on the turf. Brisker and other Steelers players stepped up to defend their offense and McCormick after everything Verse did and said. Then Verse stepped right back into it in the postgame.

The Steelers acted like they weren’t worried about Verse, and judging by the final score, they probably weren’t. Pittsburgh’s offensive line backed up the talk, and Verse walked away without a sack to show for all his chatter.

The way I see it, this one is far from over. I can’t wait to see the next time these two teams play, because none of this is going to go away. The score didn’t reflect a close game, but Verse and the Steelers have restored a rivalry that should make every future meeting must-see football.
