It has been a while since the Baltimore Ravens last squared off with a wide receiver quite like Seattle Seahawks wideout D.K. Metcalf. From his sheer speed to his growing prowess as a versatile route-runner, Metcalf has made life difficult for a multitude of cornerbacks this season.
Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton will be tasked with helping Baltimore’s secondary contain Metcalf in Week 9, and he is well aware that he will be in for quite a challenge.
"I've never played against him before, but from the film, he's super strong, super fast, has good hands, understands how to sit in zone coverages [and] get open for his quarterback," Hamilton said ahead of Week 9. "He presents a big challenge. He's one of the best receivers in our league today. That's not for no reason."
Hamilton did not share just what Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald has planned for Metcalf in Week 9, although the safety did touch on how he will approach this upcoming duel with the one-time Pro Bowler.
"It's going to be up to us," Hamilton said. "[He's a] bigger receiver [who] hopefully we get hands on [and] fight physicality with physicality and try to make him uncomfortable."
Metcalf was included in Seattle’s injury report for Week 9 due to his hip and ribs injuries. After being a full participant in practice all week, the Seahawks ultimately opted to remove him from their injury report.
Metcalf has tallied 404 receiving yards and two touchdown catches this season.
