The Detroit Lions are sitting at 7-2 as they head into just their second divisional game of the year. The Lions are on their way to doing something this team has never done, win the NFC North. You would think that a team would want to shy away from anything that could threaten that, but Lions Head Coach Dan Campbell seems to want all of the smoke.

"It's always good to have somebody (to compete with)" Campbell said when asked about the Vikings. "I mean, we're all about competition. I said before, we're going to assume they're not going to lose out until we see him again. So they've won three or four in a row. I don't know what it is. They keep getting better. And we got to keep winning. We just have to so we can't worry about them till the time shows up. It's going to come down to playing those games. You got to keep winning and then when the time comes, and you play that opponent, man, you got to win those games."

The Vikings are on a five game winning streak as of late and they look like they could be a real challenge to the Lions in the final weeks of the season. There's a chance they could be fighting for a playoff spot then. Even if they're not, I'm sure they'd love to play spoiler.

In terms of Sunday's game against the Bears, Campbell has been on top of his team and is putting in the work to make sure that this isn't a trap game.

"Look, I told them today I said 'you you know what, go watch the tape. That's it and put all your focus on this tape and you tell me what the tape says." Campbell said. "The tape validates everything I just opened up with. This team plays hard. They finish and they've got to get some dudes on offense and defense. This is not the same team we played last year. It's not, so I keep it as simple as that and tell them exactly how it is. You don't know what it's gonna take. But, I mean, for us we got to play a clean game and we got to be steady. You don't know, this may take the till the fourth quarter to finally get this one. But so be it, we got to do what we got to do to win this game. You just tell them exactly what it is and it is as simple as that. Watch the tape. The tape doesn't lie."

The Lions seem like a team that's getting prepared for a big divisional game. Campbell is right. This is not the same team they played last year. They might not have a good record, but they can be dangerous. Especially with Justin Fields returning and the ability he has with his feet.

We'll see on Sunday if the team bough into what Campbell was selling and they show up prepared and ready to go and, biggest of all, they didn't decide to look past this one.
