South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Shane Beamer said during his Sunday teleconference that wide receiver Juice Wells is doubt for Saturday's game against the Tennessee Vols.

Wells, a senior from Richmond, VA, entered the 2023 season as South Carolina's leading returning receiver (Wells had 68 catches for 928 yards and six touchdowns last season).

The former four-star transfer (Wells originally played at James Madison) is dealing with a foot injury that he sustained after scoring a touchdown against the Georgia Bulldogs in Week 2.

Wells' injury isn't thought to be season-ending, but it appears it'll keep him out of the game against Tennessee on Saturday night in Knoxville.

Last season, Wells had one of the best games of his career in South Carolina's blowout win against Tennessee. Wells caught 11 passes for 177 yards in the Gamecocks' 65-38 win against the Vols.

While Wells likely won't be a factor against Tennessee in this year's matchup, it doesn't mean that South Carolina will be short on playmakers.

Senior wide receiver Xavier Legette is off to a hot start this season with the Gamecocks. Legette has caught 27 passes for 556 yards and three touchdowns in just four games this season.

Keeping Legette in check will be a challenge for Tennessee's beleaguered secondary. But they'll have to find a way to limit his productivity if the Vols are going to exact revenge on South Carolina on Saturday night.

The Vols and the Gamecocks will kick off at 7:30 PM ET on Saturday.
