Jonathan Greenard made some notable comments following the Houston Texans’ Week 1 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens. The fourth-year defensive lineman noted that as Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson stayed in the pocket more than expected during the game, it all made life a bit easier for the Texans.

"I mean, he's a guy, like, we know he just got paid," Greenard said after the game. "So, he wanted to sit in the pocket as much as he could, more than he wanted to run. He was trying to stay in the pocket. It kind of worked to our advantage at times.

"We wanted to attack him going into the game, and him staying in the pocket, it made our job easier."

For Jackson, all that matters at the end of the day is the final score.

"I think I saw that yesterday, but [Houston] didn't give me the chance to run, so it was cool," Jackson said during a press conference on Wednesday. "We got the W.

“I really don't care about running. We won."

Jackson ran the ball six times for 38 rushing yards in Week 1, which came a season after he averaged 9.33 rush attempts per game. He logged an 11.1 rush attempts per game average in the 2021 campaign.

The Texans were able to regularly pressure Jackson on Sunday. The two-time Pro Bowler was sacked four times and hit a total of seven times. He was also pressured on 29.0 percent of dropbacks, which ranked eighth among all quarterbacks in Week 1, as noted by Pro Football Reference.

Jackson and the Ravens are now looking ahead to an AFC North clash with the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2.
