Can Kenny Quiet The Doubters?
Kenny Pickett played the worst game of his career in Week 1 and now will be tasked with getting the offense off the schneid against a fast, hungry, and aggressive defense. To make matters worse, Pittsburgh will be without their top WR threat.
But I don't think Kenny is running from that. I believe he's all about facing adversity head-on, and proving he can be a franchise-caliber QB in this league. Having said that, a few more games like last Sunday, and the noise about his future will become palpable.
3 players to keep an eye on:
WR Calvin Austin III: With Pittsburgh down one, and potentially two threats on the perimeter, there will be an onus placed on Austin to step up in light of their absence, hopefully seeing more manufactured touches.
CB Joey Porter Jr: Somehow, the fan-favorite rookie played less than 10 snaps in Week 1, something even Coach Tomlin said was a mistake. Expect him to mix in more in Week 2.
DL DeMarvin Leal: Tasked with an impossible job, Leal will have to try and fill the shoes of Cam Heyward, something that is going to be difficult for any player, much less a second-year draft pick.
