The Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) have the NFL's best record and they look like the league's best team. Therefore, they are must-see TV.
So it makes all the sense in the world that they'd make NFL TV history in 2023. Per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the NFL decided to flex Philadelphia's Week 15 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks (6-5) into Monday Night Football. The two NFC squads are booting the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots out of the original spot.
Instead of playing during the originally scheduled 4:25 p.m. ET slot on December 17, kickoff is now set for 8:15 p.m. ET on December 18. This also represents the first-ever MNF flex.
The matchup against the Seahawks is one of six final NFC matchups for the Eagles, which is obviously huge when it comes to playoff seeding. The 'Hawks represent the end of a three-game stretch featuring this week's matchup agains the San Francisco 49ers and Week 14's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. If the Eagles can go 3-0 or even 2-1 over the next few weeks then they'll be in nearly-unbeatable shape for the NFC's No. 1 seed.
Sure, the 'Hawks haven't been at their best, lately. But as we all know, this is the NFL and things can change in a split second. For all we know, Seattle could come into this game flying high after two huge wins and the Eagles could be looking to rediscover their mojo. Anything is possible in this league.
The game will be played in Seattle and the East Coast-West Coast dynamic is always fun to chew on. This game has all the vibes of a fun one, regardless of where both teams currently stand.
