To quote the Mad Titan, Thanos from the movie Avengers: End Game “you could not live with your own failure. And where did that bring you? Back to me.”

The 4-8 New York Jets are once again returning to Zach Wilson to lead the offense when they face the surprising 7-5 Houston Texans at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Wilson was benched just three weeks ago in favor of “how the hell is he even in the league” Tim Boyle and one putrid quarter of Trevor Siemian.

Wilson had the Jets sitting at 4-6 prior to his benching but the Jets had an almost laughable run on offense when he got the hook in the third quarter against the Buffalo Bills back in week 11.

The decision didn’t come without any drama or as it was reported earlier this week that Wilson was hesitant to return to the starting role, a report which has been mildly refuted.

“Zach gives us our best chance to win,” Jets head coach Robert Saleh said of the quarterback on Wednesday. I believe that is true after seeing what we have seen from Boyle and Siemian. I still don’t believe it is a good chance to win. I also don’t know how much the priority for this team should be winning for the rest of the year.

As for all the controversy surrounding Zach Wilson’s reported reluctance to return to the starting lineup, Saleh doesn’t seem to think it is an issue. "He's fired up. He's excited to get this opportunity," Saleh said. He went on to say Wilson is the starter the rest of the season "god willing".

To be clear, I have been a staunch supporter of Robert Saleh in his Jets tenure. I believe he is a leader of men and the right kind of guy to lead a professional football team. What has transpired over the last few weeks, culminating in the drama this week, has been the first time I have thought his tenure with the Jets might be done.

Throughout the season he made it clear he was firmly behind Zach Wilson as the leader of this team and the future of the Jets. I disagreed, but fine. Wilson is your guy; you stick with him. I can respect that, even if I disagree.

Then he makes the switch to Tim Boyle, who frankly shouldn’t be on an NFL roster and never should have been given the chance to be on an NFL roster.

Then he goes to Trevor Siemian for just over a quarter of football, only to watch him look like he hasn’t thrown a football in a decade. Now, despite the reports that Wilson wants no part of going back to Wilson, he goes back to him and cuts Tim Boyle. This isn’t leadership. It’s obvious panic and shows he has no control.

He is even texting with former WFAN New York radio host Joe Benigno about what to do about the Jets which is just an absolute joke in itself.

This feels like the week that many will look at as to why there was another complete tear down and rebuild of the organization, something that Jets fans count more than playoff appearances these days.

Jets’ Saleh and Wilson caught in an awkward spot

This is what happens when you miss on a quarterback number two overall. Drama. The Jets, who currently sit at 4-8 are getting set to host the Houston Texans on Sunday at MetLife stadium. The Texans mirror the Jets in a lot of ways with one exception. Both teams are coached by former San Francisco […]
