Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald is continuing to garner head coaching interest.

Hours after it was reported that the Washington Commanders requested permission to interview Macdonald for their head coaching opening, the Carolina Panthers have also submitted a request to speak to the second-year defensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Panthers are on the lookout for their next head coach. They parted ways with Frank Reich in late November, which came mere months after they signed him to a four-year contract. Carolina then called on Chris Tabor to be its interim head coach for the remainder of the season, and the NFC South side finished with a 1-5 record under the longtime special teams coach.

Macdonald is in his second season as defensive coordinator for the Ravens. He has anchored a Ravens defense that capped off regular season play by leading the NFL in multiple defensive stats, from points per game allowed (16.5) to sacks (60).
