John Harbaugh said last week that he would attend the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship Game to support his brother in Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh. The Baltimore Ravens head coach ended up staying true to his word.
John wound up missing the first quarter of the contest. ESPN’s Chris Fowler noted during the broadcast that the flight that the longtime head coach was on dealt with a few weather delays.
John was able to arrive at NRG Stadium during the opening half, and he went on to surprise his brother on the sideline. The two shared a hug and some words before Jim turned his attention back to the biggest game of his collegiate head coaching career.
Michigan clinched a spot in this season’s national title game following a dramatic overtime win against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff semifinals. The Wolverines are eyeing a victory over the Washington Huskies to secure their first national championship since 1997.
This could very well be Jim’s final game as head coach of Michigan, as he has been linked with a few NFL teams as of late. In the unpredictable world of the NFL, it sure would not be a surprise to see Jim and John once again square off in the NFL next season.
