It seems like a massive decision has been made in New Orleans. According to multiple sources, they are not making a change at head coach.
Dennis Allen is expected to be retained by the New Orleans Saints, according to Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
On Monday, Allen said that he expected to be the team's coach in 2024. Now, that seems like it will almost certainly be the case.
The Saints did improve upon their 7-10 record from a season ago, albeit against the NFL's easiest schedule. They went 9-8 this year but missed the playoffs for the third year in a row.
Allen's career record is 24-46 as an NFL HC. The jury is seemingly no longer out on whether or not he can be a top-end option to lead a team in this league. That being said, the Saints front office has preached continuity since he arrived, and they will probably do that once again when asked about it soon.
Between some locker room instability and shaky decision-making during games, Allen's footing probably is not where it deserves to be. Regardless, New Orleans' brass believes in him.
Expect him to get at least the start to a third season as the Saints head coach – as of now.
