The New Orleans Saints made the move that many folks have feared in recent weeks. 

After plenty of discussions with medical experts, star offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk was placed on injured reserve. His season is over.

Ramczyk has missed the past two games due to his degenerative knee issue. The star tackle is dealing with a cartilage defect in his knee that sparked in 2021. This offseason will decide whether or not he will continue his NFL career.

It's another tough break for a top player in New Orleans. Marshon Lattimore and Michael Thomas are both on IR. Neither are expected to return this season for the Saints. Now, the best offensive lineman on the team joins that group.

With the move, the Saints elevated OT Cam Erving to the active roster. Defensive back Shemar Jean-Charles was was brought up for Week 17, too.

The Saints also officially ruled out defensive lineman Payton Turner for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
