Zay Flowers just continues to make history in his rookie campaign.
Flowers entered the Baltimore Ravens’ home matchup against the Miami Dolphins in need of 90 receiving yards to break the record for the most such yards logged by a rookie in team history. The former Boston College standout ended up moving to the top spot on the leaderboard following his 75-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter of the contest.
Former Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith was the previous holder of this record; he tallied 841 receiving yards in the 2011 season.
Flowers also owns the record for the most catches by a Ravens rookie, which was previously held by Smith (50 in the 2011 season).
Flowers will not come close to breaking the mark for the most receiving yards by a first-year player in the Super Bowl era. Cincinnati Bengals wideout Ja’Marr Chase is in possession of this record thanks to his 1,455 receiving yards campaign in the 2021 season.
Flowers, who has recorded 858 receiving yards this season, sure is continuing to bolster his case to at the least finish in the top five in the voting for the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
