FOXBOROUGH, Mass – The New England Patriots took the field for the first day of Training Camp, and they had perfect attendance.

Everyone was ready for football to be back, and while it was only the beginning, there were definetely some highs during practice. However, there are also plenty of things the team needs to work on.

Every day of Patriots training camp, A to Z Sports will be reporting live from Gillette Stadium and will be releasing the takeaways from the day.

So let's get started with Day 1.

1. Catch of the Day goes to Jalen Reagor

Drake Maye showed off his arm during an 11-on-11 period, finding Jalen Reagor along the sideline for a deep pass. The receiver had cornerback Azizi Hearn beat, and extended his arm to make the one-handed catch that would have easily resulted in a touchdown during a game. The play was roughly between 40-50 yards.

Reagor continued to get many targets throughout the different periods of play.

So, it's not a bad start for the rookie or the receiver.

2. Kyle Dugger starts of training camp with an interception

Kyle Dugger proved why the Patriots placed the transition tag on him and gave him a large contract extension early on in training camp.

The safety picked off Jacoby Brissett on Day 1. The quarterback threw it behind K.J. Osborn, and the ball was tipped by Jonathan Jones.

Fellow safety Jabrill Peppers had the perfect response to Dugger getting the first interception of training camp.

"I don't know how he's always in the right place at the right time," Peppers told reporters after practice. "But that's Dug."

3. Quarterback Stats

11v11s
Jacoby Brisset: 5/7, INT
Drake Maye: 2/4
Bailey Zappe: 1/2
Joe Milton: 1/3

7v7s
Jacoby Brisset: 5/6
Drake Maye: 4/6
Bailey Zappe: 2/3
Joe Milton: 3/3

4. Starting offensive line

Jerod Mayo made it clear that the best five players will be on the offensive line to start the season. So here's how they lined up on the first day of training camp.

LT – Chukwuma Okorafor
RG – Sidy Sow
C – David Andrews
RG – Mike Onwenu
RT – Calvin Anderson

Onwenu, who played mainly at right tackle last season, has been seen at guard numerous times during the spring. And that still seems to be the case. This will certainly be something to keep an eye on.

5. Kevin Harris as RB2

With Antonio Gibson on the non-football injury list, that means Kevin Harris was right behind Rhamondre Stevenson on the depth chart during drills on Wednesday.

However, Mayo did say that Gibson will be back "relatively soon" and he has "no concern at all" about what is keeping him sidelined.

6. Matthew Judon and Davon Godchaux were out at practice

Both Matthew Judon and Davon Godchuax are looking for new contracts from the Patriots, so that made many question if they would hold out during training camp.

But the two arrived on Tuesday when the rest of the veterans returned to Gillette Stadium, and they were out participating during the first day of training camp.

Following practice, Judon spoke at length about the contract situation and was very candid about where things stand and what his mindset is.

7. Attendance

The Patriots had perfect attendance for their first training camp practice. The five players that were missing have been played on the physically unable to perform list and the non-football injury list.

PUP: WR Kendrick Bourne, OL Cole Strange, LB Sione Takitaki, and OL Jake Andrews

NFI: RB Antonio Gibson

The Patriots will be back out for Day 2 of training camp on Thursday, July 24.
