On3's Steve Wiltfong made a recruiting prediction for the LSU Tigers this week that should make fans in Baton Rouge happy.

Wiltfong predicted this week that LSU will land a commitment from 2025 four-star edge rusher Damien Shanklin

"Logged a new prediction in favor of LSU for On300 edge Damien Shanklin who also visited for the spring game," wrote Wiltfong on Monday. "The Tigers will have to hold off Alabama, Ohio State, Tennessee and others, but they’re the early bar."

Shanklin, 6-foot-4/230 lbs from Indianapolis, IN, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 5 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Indiana. He's also rated as the No. 48 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

"It was amazing I was able to sit down and chill with the staff and players and I also feel very brought in there," said Shanklin to 247Sports after a recent visit to LSU. "Literally talked to the whole staff this weekend because the bond is there and also enjoyed my time with the recruits."

Shanklin has upcoming official visits scheduled for Ohio State, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Those visits will provide plenty of opportunities for programs to steal Shanklin from LSU. But for now, at least, it sounds like the Tigers are in a good spot for the highly-coveted edge rusher.

Shanklin doesn't have a scheduled commitment date yet.
