We're less than two weeks away from the 2024 NFL Draft and Detroit Lions fans are wishing that they had that almanac that Marty McFly got in Back to the Future 2 so they could finally know who the Lions are going to take in this thing.
ESPN recently asked their draft experts and insiders what they were hearing about each team and Matt Miller is hearing that the Lions are strongly looking a player that grew up in the area for the 29th pick.
"Here's your landing spot for Darius Robinson," said an area scout who crossed paths with the Lions' decision-makers multiple times this year and has shared conversations with them about team needs. Robinson, the versatile defensive lineman from Missouri, is an ideal scheme fit at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds. He played both defensive end and defensive tackle in 2023 while posting 8.5 sacks, and while the Lions have standout players in Aidan Hutchinson and Alim McNeill on the defensive line, Robinson's power and burst on the edge would be a welcome addition."
Not a big shocker there. Robinson has been linked to the Lions a lot since the NFL Combine when spoke so highly about his formal meeting that he had with Detroit.
“My heart was bumping, man. I’m telling you, it was like a dream just to see all the names and faces, growing up a Lions fan. That was a great interview.”
Robinson grew up in Canton, Michigan and has been a Lions fan his whole life. Apart from the formal meeting he had at the combine, he also was present at the Lions local pro day that they held earlier this week. So there is some real interest there.
He's expected to be there for the Lions with the 29th pick if they do indeed stay put. We'll see if Detroit is indeed his landing spot. The commute would be pretty sweet for him.
