Georgia football brought in Travaris Robinson as their new co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach this offseason from Alabama.
Travaris Robinson was an extremely successful defensive coach all over college football for Auburn, Western Kentucky, Southern Miss, Texas Tech, Florida, South Carolina, and Miami (FL) before joining the Crimson Tide in 2022. Last month he landed his biggest job ever as the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach for Georgia. And while some critics were concerned about overpaying for Robinson (as discussed in the post below), he is one of the best recruiters and defensive coaches in the country.
When asked about Travaris Robinson at the NFL Combine both potential first round edge rushers from Alabama, Dallas Turner and Chris Braswell, spoke glowingly of their former coach.
Braswell said, "He's a great coach. He can bring a lot to the [Georgia] defense. Brings a [certain] mentality with him." He was excited to talk about the intensity that Robinson brings.
Turner immediately responded with, "I feel like every school that [Travaris Robinson] has been at, you know, he's impacted it in a very good way."
Both players were clearly excited to be asked about one of their favorite coaches.
It's unlikely that Robinson is calling the plays on the defensive side of the ball right away (let alone this entire upcoming season), but he's certainly going to be a great recruiter and leader for the defensive coaching staff.
When multiple top tier prospects speak highly of a coach, and his track record is filled with nothing but success it seems there is plenty to get excited about for Georgia fans with Travaris Robinson.
