FOXBORO, Mass. — Julian Edelman returned to Gillette Stadium on Thursday, making a guest appearance at the New England Patriots training camp session.
And the Patriots legend certainly has a good relationship with New England's current quarterback Mac Jones, who spoke about his relationship with Edelman following practice.
"Jules has been awesome. I always text him," Jones said. "But he does a great job communicating with me and he loves the Patriots. And he's just an all-time Patriot. We see him on the film all the time and any questions I have for him, he always answers so I don't know him that well, but every time I've talked to him, he's just been awesome. So it's been a good resource for us."
And while Jones sends texts, what does Edelman respond with?
"He like sends voice memos, it's kind of interesting," Jones said.
Edelman played with the New England Patriots from 2009 to 2020, winning three Super Bowls and being named the Super Bowl MVP in 2019.
Knowing plenty about the Patriots winning ways, Edelman looks to help the team in different ways, specifically being a resource for Jones.
"I've seen all good things. I mean, what people don't realize in this part of training camp is it's not always, it's not always drawn up to look like it should be a great play," Edelman said. "A lot of times they're testing guys and the defense has multiple different looks and the offense isn't game playing for certain looks. You go in for controlled chaos and want to see how guys react to certain looks and things. So it's pretty good and I'm excited to see him continue to work with Billy O."
