The Cincinnati Bengals have taken care of another defensive star this offseason with a well earned contract extension
Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the team agreed to terms with MIKE linebacker Logan Wilson on a four-year deal that's worth up to $37.25 million, with just over $22 million coming in the first two years.
Wilson, a fourth-year player in 2023, was the Bengals' third-round pick in what's become a franchise-changing 2020 NFL Draft. The team's first and second-round picks, respectively, were quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receiver Tee Higgins.
Through his first three years, Wilson has emerged as a playmaking presence at the linebacker position, earning full-time starting duties in 2021. He's amassed 256 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in his Bengals career thus far.
2022 was a true breakout year for the former Wyoming Cowboy. He graded out at 74.6 in Pro Football Focus' defense grade, which was the fourth-highest among starters. Most notably, he graded out at 87.6 in tackling, which was the fourth-highest among all NFL linebackers last year (including postseason play).
Wilson has become an all-around weapon for the Bengals' defense against the run and pass. He's their primary coverage linebacker and routinely makes plays on space. His fit within Lou Anarumo's defense is seamless, and he'll now be playing next to running mate Germaine Pratt for years to come.
