Colts schedule important interview with draft prospect
The Colts could add a massive prospect to protect their quarterback.
The Indianapolis Colts are undoubtedly focused on their first-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. With that said, the franchise has the rest of the draft to figure out, too.
Quarterback will more than likely be the first position addressed by the Colts in the draft. Multiple other positions, however, will be selected as well while new head coach Shane Steichen builds his roster.
Offensive line is among the biggest needs for the Colts this offseason. And it just so happens that the team has scheduled a pre-draft visit with one of the biggest linemen in the entire class.
Indianapolis is reportedly set to meet with Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones. They are one of seven teams around the NFL that will have Jones in for a top-30 visit, which could signify some level of real interest.
Jones is listed at a massive 6-foot-8 and 374 pounds. He also has confirmed measurables of 36 3/8” arms and 11 5/8” hands, making him an gigantic prospect that immediately catches eyeballs.
At Ohio State, Jones played right tackle for the Buckeyes. He did not give up a sack during his final season in Columbus and allowed just two pressures in 152 true pass sets, per Pro Football Focus.
Obviously, there will be a transition to the NFL. With that said, the Colts could realistically target the former Ohio State lineman with their second-round selection at No. 36 overall.
It is definitely an attractive scenario for the Indianapolis Colts to potentially come away with their franchise QB and a starting offensive line prospect with their first two picks.
A visit does not mean everything, but it is at least notable that the Colts are showing some level of interest in Dawand Jones.
