The New England Patriots have two open roster spots as they wind down their second week of organized team activities practices.

The Patriots waived undrafted free-agent defensive tackle Justus Tavai on Friday. New England had signed Tavai after a successful rookie minicamp workout last month.

The move leaves New England with Christian Barmore, Carl Davis, Daniel Ekuale, Davon Godchaux, Lawrence Guy, DaMarcus Mitchell, Jeremiah Pharms, Sam Roberts, Keion White and Deatrich Wise on their defensive line.

Tavai was one of just four rookie free agents New England signed after the draft. Quarterback Malik Cunningham, tight end Johnny Lumpkin and linebacker Jourdan Heilig remain with the team. The Patriots also selected 12 rookies in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Safety Devin McCourty's retirement was processed through the league, opening up the second roster spot.

The Patriots are monitoring free-agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins' market, according to a source.
