Foxboro, Mass. – Matthew Judon is known for his recruiting ways and his latest target on Twitter is free agent DeAndre Hopkins.
Judon responded to a tweet on Saturday saying that he was willing to pay $500 to a charity of the star receiver's choosing if he signs with the Patriots. A few other players (current and former) joined in on the fun.
However, following the second day of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, the linebacker denied ever sending the tweet addressed towards Hopkins.
"You've seen all you're going to get," Judon said. "I don't run my Twitter so I don't know who be tweeting out most of the time, so that's what I got for you."
Hopkins is reportedly scheduled to visit with the Patriots on Wednesday and Thursday, with many other players including Mac Jones and Kendrick Bourne interested in adding him increased talent to the roster.
“In the NFL, he’s a great player. He did amazing things, and wherever he lands, he lands,” Judon said. “If it’s here, it’s here. Then we can talk about him.”
Judon did not want to spend a lot of time talking about the possibility and was more focused on the group the Patriots currently have.
"I'd rather just focus on players that we have here," Judon said. "But our receiving core, we got some guys out here just willing and eager to learn and get better every day."
DeVante Parker took a similar approach when asked about Hopkins.
“I’m just focused on us right now. Great player, but I’m focused on us,” Parker said.
It appears Judon's recruiting efforts will remain on social media for now, with the linebacker only talking about the current roster during the offseason program.
