The Indianapolis Colts drafted Anthony Richardson at No. 4 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. Richardson addresses the biggest need on the Colts' roster, and he has the upside to be a franchise star.
General manager Chris Ballard and first-year head coach Shane Steichen are gearing up for the second day of the draft. There is still work to be done to surround Richardson and quality talent remains on the board.
In the meantime, Colts owner Jim Irsay has been active on social media following the team's first-round. He sent out a tweet on Friday, just hours before the second-round beginning, that has fans confused.
Irsay references the possibility of the Colts taking another quarterback in the draft. Will Levis, who was widely projected to be a first-round selection, has fallen to the second-round. And it's unclear where his landing spot will be.
So, Irsay tweeted to Colts fans about Levis. The Colts' owner poses a scenario where Indianapolis drafts Levis at No. 35 overall, meaning the team uses its first two picks on rookie signal callers. An interesting situation, to say the least.
Such a scenario playing out is far from likely. Indianapolis has hitched its wagon to Richardson – and for good reason. The Florida quarterback is an elite athlete behind center and is a seemingly great fit for Shane Steichen's offense.
In reality, Irsay is just having some fun on Twitter. There's likely a good amount of relief in the Colts' front office with the Richardson selection now officially official. Perhaps Irsay is trolling the portion of the fan base that was wanting Levis over Richardson.
Either way, the Indianapolis Colts have their guy to build around for the foreseeable future. It's a new era for the franchise, but Jim Irsay is going to continue to have his fun on social media.
