The Indianapolis Colts took care of their quarterback situation with the fourth overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. In Round 2, they opened things up with a couple of trades with the Las Vegas Raiders and Arizona Cardinals
First, the Colts traded back three spots by sending the 35th overall pick of the second round to the Raiders, who ended up drafting TE Michael Mayer out of Notre Dame despite speculation about them potentially grabbing QB Hendon Hooker. Here's how the first trade broke down:
- Colts receive: 38th overall pick (second round), 141st overall pick (fifth round)
- Raiders receive: 35th overall pick (second round)
Right after that, the Colts traded back again, this time all the way down to 44th overall. Arizona took OT Mathew Bergeron at that spot. This is how the deal with the Cardinals worked out:
- Colts receive: 44th overall (second round), 110th overall (fourth round)
- Cardinals receive: 38th overall (second round)
The two trades earn the Colts a fifth and fourth-rounder for Day 3, loading them up with ammo for Saturday. Below is an updated look at the Colts' draft capital following the trade with their AFC foe. As of this writing the Colts have:
