Quarterback is almost guaranteed to be the pick for the Indianapolis Colts in the first-round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Barring anything crazy happening, of course.
Which quarterback will be the pick is the bigger mystery. Especially with multiple teams – Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans – slotted to pick ahead of the Colts also needing a signal caller.
However, we can look at the clues. And a lot of the clues signal towards one specific quarterback being the Colts' guy. The latest pre-draft development is even more evidence to that fact.
The Indianapolis Colts are set to meet with Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson. Again. Richardson will meet with the Las Vegas Raiders before visiting the Carolina Panthers and Colts next week.
It is important to note that the Colts have met with Richardson multiple times already. Including at Richardson's pro day, where chief personnel executive Morocco Brown was in attendance, and a private workout earlier this week.
Meeting with Richardson is the latest clue that the Colts have their eyes on the intriguing passer out of the Sunshine State. Indianapolis is certainly doing their homework on him as the draft inches closer and closer.
As of right now, the Colts are third in line in the quarterback-pecking order for the draft. Furthermore, Richardson currently has the best odds to be the third quarterback selected, behind presumptive top-two selections Bryce Young and CJ Stroud.
The fit makes a lot of sense for both sides. Shane Steichen's offense paired with Anthony Richardson's raw talent is a fascinating match. One that could very well change the dynamics for the Colts moving forward.
Indianapolis continues to do their due diligence on Young, Stroud, and Will Levis leading up to the draft. However, it is becoming more and more clear who the Colts likely prefer.
