The Philadelphia Eagles have played around enough.
Following back-to-back losses in Week 16 and Week 17, clinching the No. 1 seed is still up in the air. Those losses can be attributed to no Jalen Hurts. But still, it remains true that Philadelphia is in jeopardy of missing out on the No. 1 seed by way of erroneous losses when all the team needs to do is win.
But, as luck will have it, Philadelphia's odds at clinching in Week 18 are in a good place. As a result of a dominating win over the Colts, the Giants have clinched the NFC's 6-seed and will have little to nothing to play for next week.
If the Eagles win, they will have a home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and an NFC East crown.
The Eagles can still claim those things if the Dallas Cowboys lose to the Commanders next week as well as if the Vikings lose and the 49ers.
Philadelphia owns a tiebreaker against the Vikings, but the Eagles lost one game to the Cowboys — so if all three teams have the same record Dallas would win the NFC East and be the No. 1 seed, with the Eagles as the 5-seed in the Wild Card spot. If the Cowboys lose to Washington and the Eagles also lose, they'd be the No. 1 seed if they get help.
In short, however, the Eagles control their own destiny. All they need to do is win. And with Jalen Hurts nearing his comeback, that may finally be a real possibility again.
