The offseason equation is simple for the Philadelphia Eagles. In contract extension talks, the Eagles need to give star quarterback Jalen Hurts what he deserves.

Back up the brinks trucks because Hurts deserves a bag — and a big one.

After going 27-of-38 passing for 304 yards and a touchdown, while also tying Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis for a Super Bowl record of three rushing touchdowns, the equation is a simple one if Philadelphia wants to be good for a long time: Pay Hurts the number he deserves. And in a recent report, ESPN's Dan Graziano weighed in on the quarterback's future:

"I expect the Eagles to work to sign quarterback Jalen Hurts to an extension early in the offseason. They know the price has likely gone to $50 million a year or more, and with Cincinnati's Joe Burrow and the Chargers' Justin Herbert also extension-eligible this summer, and a Lamar Jackson megadeal still possible, the prices at the top of the QB market could ratchet up quickly."

Hurts' value as a quarterback is only going up. And that is without market inflation. Once the other young quarterbacks receive their contracts, quarterbacks who haven't led their team to the Super Bowl, the Eagles will have to fork over even more money to keep Hurts.

So, Philadelphia needs to take advantage of this offseason and offer Hurts an extension in the $ 50-million-a-year range. It will look like a bargain deal three summers from now. And Hurts has already shown that he is worth every penny in both his ability and his leadership.

It isn't too long ago that Hurts' head coach Nick Sirianni compared the young signal caller to Michael Jordan. Now, it is time for the Eagles to stop talking and pay Hurts the money he deserves.
