It’s officially Super Bowl week and Eagles fans are already making their voices heard.
In Sunday’s matchup in Madison Square Garden between the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks, there was an audible E-A-G-L-E-S chant reverberating through ESPN’s broadcast.
It wasn’t the first time Eagles fans have taken over New York, either. The Birds managed to pull off the rare three-game sweep of the Giants, ending their season in the NFC's Divisional Round of the playoffs.
New York has been a good place for Philly recently, especially considering the Empire State Building turned Eagles green after they had punched their ticket to Super Bowl LVII.
Eagles fans are known to be some of the passionate fans in all of professional sports, so this isn’t a huge surprise. In fact, some of the Sixers’ staff has been outspoken about their Eagles fandom on the season, including head coach Doc Rivers.
Unfortunately the Knicks would go on to win the game and the New Yorkers made themselves heard with a late “Eagles suck!” chant. That being said, Philadelphia can take solace in the fact that their teams have had New York’s number for a while now.
