The New England Patriots are taking the next step in their pursuit of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
The Patriots will host the five-time Pro Bowl selection on a visit next week. A source told A to Z Sports last week that New England had interest in Hopkins and that it would monitor his market.
Hopkins is set to visit the Tennessee Titans, as well. He missed time last season with a PED suspension and injuries but still caught 64 passes for 717 yards with three touchdowns in nine games.
Hopkins has previous experience under New England’s current offensive coordinator, Bill O’Brien. O’Brien was Hopkins’ head coach for six years with the Houston Texans before trading the wide receiver to the Arizona Cardinals. O'Brien reportedly would be in favor of signing Hopkins.
The Patriots currently have JuJu Smith-Schuster, DeVante Parker, Kendrick Bourne, Tyquan Thornton, Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas, Malik Cunningham, Tre Nixon, Raleigh Webb and Ed Lee at wide receiver. Quarterback Mac Jones could still use a top target.
New England has their last organized team activities session of the offseason Friday before they conclude the offseason workout program with mandatory minicamp early next week.
